Collins Geo prepares for the Beijing Olympics

The 2008 Olympics are now less than two weeks away. The opening ceremony at the Beijing National Stadium will begin at 8 minutes and 8 seconds past 8 pm (China Standard Time), on the 8th day of the 8th month in 2008. In Asian culture the number 8 is associated with luck and prosperity.

Just like our athletes, Collins Geo has been gearing up for these Olympic Games. We have a new edition of our China map and a brand new guide Travel Around China.

More than 1.5 million visitors are expected to travel to Beijing for the 2008 Games. Travel Around China will be essential for visitors who want all the sights and sounds of historic and modern day China, and are also looking for that undiscovered gem. Unlike other travel guides, Travel Around China has been written and researched by local editors and photographers, providing a truly fascinating and unique insight.

From the Forbidden City in Beijing to fascinating gems in less familiar regions, Travel Around China provides detailed information and advice about this extraordinary country. An authoritative travel guide, compiled by native Chinese citizens, it features the most up-to-date information on more than 1,200 tourist attractions; a three-dimensional map; bilingual translations; and insider tips on cuisine, shopping, accommodation, travel routes and times. In addition, each Chinese region is covered in detail, and an exclusive chapter includes travel suggestions on Olympic venues. More details

  1. One more way to travel around China is to find a local tourist guide. To get more insights and explore China through the eyes of a local. I do recommend the site www.ourexplorer.com for travelers. It now has over 400 tourist guides globally and around 40 in different cities of China.
