Discover why Scotland is so important to the story of golf by visiting the National Library of Scotland's summer exhibition 'A swing through time.'
The exhibition coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Open Championship and features some of the most iconic documents and artefacts in golfing history among over 200 exhibits. Several maps are on display too, including John Geddie's bird's-eye view of St Andrews in the 1580s and maps of Gleneagles and environs in the 1820s. An early 20th century photograph and fixture cards from our predecessors John Bartholomew & Co's staff Golf Club are in the items.'A swing through time' charts the social history of golf in Scotland and highlights the influences that made golf the game we know today.
The exhibition at the National Library of Scotland (NLS), George IV Bridge, Edinburgh runs from 18 June to 14 November. See www.nls.uk/exhibitions/golf/index.html for further details.
